Gamecocks ink 25 in class that ranks in nation’s top 10

The Gamecocks signed 25 players on Wednesday, earning top 10 rankings from several recruiting services. Spurrier credits a combination of the Gamecocks’ recent success and the school’s upgrading of the football facilities.

“We have more to offer than we’ve ever had at South Carolina. We have a track record for winning, we have a track record for graduating our players, we play in the SEC and so forth,” Spurrier said. “The facilities here now are right there with anyone in the country. We have a good football program. Our job is to keep pushing and try to get better.”

South Carolina inked four Parade All-Americans – Darius English, Brendan Nosovitch, Shaq Roland and Brock Stadnik – and, for the fourth consecutive year, landed Mr. Football from the Palmetto State in Roland. But what Spurrier likes most about this year’s class was the loyalty of his 25 signees:

“Every player that committed to us stuck. We didn’t have any defections,” Spurrier said. “Statistics show that players who stick to their commitment usually stick in college. I think we have a good class of young men that will represent our school in a first-class manner on the field and off.”
