Gamecocks picked second in SEC East; third overall

South Carolina was picked to finish second behind Georgia in the SEC East and third behind Alabama for the SEC title at Thursday’s SEC Media Days in Hoover, AL.

The Gamecocks are picked just behind the Bulldogs and just ahead of the Florida Gators in the division. The Crimson Tide was picked to defend its SEC championship with 182 overall votes, ahead of Georgia (38), South Carolina (18), Texas A&M (4) and LSU (1).

The Gamecocks received the high ranking despite placing just one player on the Preseason ALL-SEC Team. Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney made the defensive first team, tight end Rory Anderson made second team, and offensive lineman A.J. Cann made the third team.
