Girls Hoops: MB tops NMB; Panthers take down Bruins

nmbghoops-20blockThe No. 2-ranked Myrtle Beach High girls basketball team completed the first half of the region schedule undefeated by knocking off rival North Myrtle Beach 44-35 on Tuesday night.

The Lady Seahawks (15-2 overall, 4-0 Region 7-4A) won their second straight close contest on the road, following a 60-55 win over Northwood Academy on Saturday. Myrtle Beach struggled on offense against the Lady Chiefs (11-8, 2-2).

Myrtle Beach led by double digits for most of the game but were held to only four points in the fourth quarter. Kiana Adderton led the Lady Seahawks with a game-high 17 points, and Ivy Collins had a big night with 14 points.

North Myrtle Beach was unable to take advantage of Myrtle Beach’s late cold spell. Aquera Johnson led the Lady Chiefs with a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds. North Myrtle Beach falls into third place in the region standings.

Myrtle Beach faces another tough test Friday when second-place Wilson comes to town. North Myrtle Beach travels to St. James on Friday.
