Hoops: Seahawks sweep Braves; CF defeats NMB

mbhoops-13The Myrtle Beach High boys basketball team got a measure of revenge against visiting Socastee on Tuesday night, beating the Braves 56-44 just one week after letting one slip away to the non-region rival.

Myrtle Beach blew a double-digit fourth quarter lead to Socastee last week before falling in overtime. This one was even closer than the first meeting as the two teams were tied 26-all at the half 26-all, and 37-all at the end of the third quarter. The Seahawks outscored Socastee 19-7 in the final frame.

Myrtle Beach’s Robert Swanson and Emroie Knox led the Seahawks with 19 and 11 points, respectively. Socastee was led by Jason Cudd with 15 points and Alex Collins with 10.

* Carolina Forest 83, North Myrtle Beach 55: The Panthers led only 35-32 at halftime but erupted in the second half to blow out the Chiefs for the second time this season.

The Panthers were led by Duane Moss’ game-high 22 points, and Tariq Timmons tallied 18. Jaylen Johnson scored 11, Ismael Garcia added nine, and Richmond Collier had eight points as a total of nine Panthers got in the score column.
