HS Report: NMB volleyball, SJ golf, MB swimming win

The North Myrtle Beach High volleyball team posted its second sweep over Socastee in as many weeks, beating the Lady Braves 25-14, 25-21, 25-11.

The Lady Chiefs did most of the damage from the service line, led by Raegan Matney’s eight and Kayla Henley’s seven service points. Sydney Bellamy had six kills and Jordan Berger added five. Kaydee Runion, Maddie Roy, and Raegan Matney had four kills each.

The Lady Chiefs travel Wednesday to play a tri-match against Aynor and host Carolina Forest.

Golf

* The St. James High girls golf team won a tri-match over Myrtle Beach and Conway on the speedy greens of Wachesaw Plantation on Tuesday.

Defending Class 4A state champion Smith Knaffle made her season debut with a nine-hole round of 40 to earn medalist honors and lead the Lady Sharks to a team total of 172. Jordan White’s 41, Adrian Anderson’s 42, and Amanda Meno’s 49 rounded out the St. James foursome.

Myrtle Beach came in second with a 208 (Taylor Prittima 46, Jaiden Vaugh 49, Sophia Liviani 56, Kelly Campmam 57), and Conway carded a 231 (Taylor Reaves 49, Lora Ledbetter 50, Logan Emrick 62, Kiley Lewis 70).

The Lady Sharks travel to Eagles Nest on Wednesday to battle North Myrtle Beach.

Swimming

* Myrtle Beach High hosted a tri-meet at Pepper Geddings Recreation Center and claimed the overall victory with 124 points to St. James’ 105 points and North Myrtle Beach 88 points.

North Myrtle Beach won the girls division with 62 points to edge Myrtle Beach (53) and St. James (47). The Myrtle Beach boys racked up 71 points to beat St. James (58) and North Myrtle Beach (26).

Myrtle Beach’s Catherine Miller took first in the Girls 200 Free, Kennedy Drew won the 100 Free, and the girls 200 medley relay took first as well with a winning time of 2:03:28.

In boys action, Myrtle Beach’s Ian Morgan won the 200 free and 500 free, both of those state times. Ryan Eldred won the 100 fly in a state time, and Yanni Paraschos won the 100 breast. The boys 200 Medley relay team also won.
