Jacobs, Wesley to graduate, play in Scout Bowl Saturday

Coastal Carolina football seniors Andrae Jacobs and Akeem Wesley will have a busy and exciting Saturday. Both will participate in commencement ceremonies from the University in the morning then play in the third annual FCS Scout Bowl that evening at Myrtle Beach’s Doug Shaw Stadium.

Jacobs, who was a game captain a team-best nine times this past season, finished his illustrious Chanticleer career as a two-time, first team All-Big South selection as well as being the 2010 Big South Defensive Player of the Year. He finished his career with 27.0 tackles for loss (fourth on the CCU all-time list), 115 unassisted tackles (sixth on the CCU all-time list), 209 total tackles (seventh on the CCU all-time list) and 94 assisted tackled (eighth on the CCU all-time list).

Wesley, who ranked second on the team in receptions in 2011, started the season slow due to an injury, but that did not slow him down from being one of Coastal’s top special teams players. In fact, he had 11 special teams tackles to lead the team. In his first action at wide receiver, coming in week four at Toledo, he caught four passes for 58 yards, missing his career high by one yard. At VMI, he hauled in an impressive 27-yard catch in traffic to set up a CCU touchdown.

The FCS Senior Scout Bowl is set to begin at 5 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children (18-and-under). For those unable to attend, the game will broadcast online at:  http://www.fcsseniorbowl.com/watch/

This game was developed to showcase the top FCS Division football players in the country. Coastal has had strong representation in each of the two previous FCS Scout Bowls as Zach MacDowall and Dominique Davenport highlighted the inaugural game in New York before Jamie Childers, Tim Franklin and Bryan Brooks represented the South last year.
