Lacrosse: Socastee surges; CF boys, girls net victories

soclax-7borrielloThe Socastee High boys lacrosse team rolled past host Waccamaw on Wednesday, shutting out the Warriors in the second half en route to a 20-2 victory.

Nick Borriello and Zack Perritt also tallied five goals apiece to combine for half of the Braves’ scoring.

Connor Moxley had four goals, Jared Spindler had a hat trick, Cameron Lidard added two goals and Jorden Byrd made one to account for the rest of the scoring.

Assist leaders were Roby Haynes and Borriello with three apiece, and goalkeeper Nick Robles made seven saves.

The Braves travel to Myrtle Beach on Thursday.

* Carolina Forest 18, St. James 5: The Panthers celebrated Senior Night for seniors Zach Earnest and Tim Irving in winning fashion on Senior Night against the visiting Sharks.

Scoring for the Panthers was Sebastian Musumeci (six goals, two assists), Earnest (four goals, one assist), Joe Venazio (two goals, four assists), Kaidon Hunt (two goals, two assists), Curtiss Pellegrino (two goals), Josh Reffey (one goal, two assists), Gavin Gravitte (one goal), and Spencer Smith and Timothy Ray had one assist apiece.

The win make the Panthers record 8-4 with one home game left on Saturday against Myrtle Beach. With a win on Saturday the Panthers have an outside shot for one of the eight Lower State playoff spots, which will be announced on Monday.

Girls

* Carolina Forest 13, St. James 10: The Lady Panthers erased a halftime deficit and improved to 8-4 on the season with a road win over the Lady Sharks.

Carolina Forest trailed 5-4 at the half but bounced back in the second. Aly Estes scored a hat trick with three goals, and Jordan Stone, Samantha Custer, Kaitlin Howell, Shannon Wilt had two goals apiece.

Bailey Keil and Ally Brannon had one goal each, and goalie Dannie Johnson made eight saves. They face Socastee on Thursday.
