The St. James girls lacrosse team clashed with Carolina Forest in a battle of unbeatens, turning it on late to score a 16-6 victory over the Lady Panthers at the Shark Tank on Monday night.
Senior co-captain Sophie Lesando had a game-high 7 goals and 4 assists, surpassing the 100-goal milestone for her career and helping the Lady Sharks improve their record to 4-0 on the season.
Fellow senior co-captain Reagan Parr had 2 goals and 2 assists, and Caroline Boyer had 3 goals and 1 assist for the Lady Sharks, Rylee Holt, Olivia Marciano, Makayla Smith and Meagan Russell had 1 goal each.
St. James’ goal-keeping duties were split between Ariana Prete, stopping 6 shots, and Hope James, making 2 saves. They got lots of defensive support as the Lady Sharks forced 11 turnovers.
The Sharks return home Thursday against North Myrtle Beach.
* Socastee 7, Myrtle Beach 6: The Lady Braves claimed a one-goal victory over the Lady Seahawks at Doug Shaw Stadium on Monday night.
Socastee’s Kelsey McElroy scored 3 goals on 4 shots attempts and won the draw 6 times to lead the Lady Braves offense. Goalie Micaela Cruz made 8 saves to spearhead the defense.
Socastee also got big nights from Adara Grant (2 goals, 2 assists, 10 groundballs), Cheyenne Williams (4 groundballs), Zoey Bennett (1 goal, 2 groundballs) and Sierra Hummel (1 goal).
