Local soccer players claim statewide all-star awards

socsoc-10The success of local high school soccer teams and players this season can be traced back to their involvement in club soccer on the Grand Strand.

Coast FA had several of its past and present players earn all-state honors, including Myrtle Beach High’s Class 3A boys state championship-bound seniors Foster Russell and Adolfo Aguilar, and the Class 3A Girls Lower State finalist’s Tristan Gordon, who was also named the Region 7-3A Player of the Year as a sophomore.

Russell, Aguilar and Socastee’s Jake Perito, the Region 6-4A Player of the Year who led the Braves to the Class 4A Lower State final, were chosen to participate in the North/South Soccer Game, which features players from the Lower State competing against players from the Upper State.
