Soccer: MB’s Nati nets six goals in win over Wilson

mbsoc-handballMyrtle Beach High senior Helgi Nati scored six goals to lead the Seahawks to a 7-2 road victory over region rival Wilson.

Nati had a hat trick just 26 minutes into the match and made it a 4-2 halftime lead on an assist by junior Franc Lamcja, who had five assists in the game.

Lamcja’s fourth assist set up Nati’s double hat trick performance, and sophomore Nico Sandoz cashed in on Lamcja’s fifth assist to cap the scoring.

The Seahawks (6-3-1, 2-0) remain undefeated in region play. They return to the pitch Thursday  against visiting Socastee.

* Socastee 2, Georgetown 0: The Braves (6-4-1) won their region opener on the road with a shutout of the Bulldogs.

Socastee’s Wesley Durant and Jonathan Ford scored the Braves’ only goals against a winless Georgetown team, but it was all the offense the Braves needed. Goalkeepers Alexis Castanada and Cole Renfrow combined for seven saves in the shutout.

* Carolina Forest 3, South Florence 0: Francisco Barrios scored a pair of goals and Ian McIlrath had a goal and two assists to lead the Panthers to a shutout win over the Bruins.

Carolina Forest goalkeeper Bryce Garrell had six saves and his defense had another solid outings as the Panthers improved to 2-0 in Region 6-4A play.

Girls

*  Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach 5, Ca;vary Christian 0:  Mary Chandler Butler scored a pair of goals and dished out an assist, and sisters Julia and Natalie Markely scored one goal apiece to pace the Lady Saints.

Eighth-grader Blair Banks also scored and Caroline Gore added an assist to cap CAMB’s offense.

CAMB goalkeeper Emily Johnson made five saves to preserve the shutout.

* Carolina Forest 4, South Florence 1: Four different Lady Panthers scored over a 21-minute span in the first half to beat the Lady Bruins in a key Region 6-4A matchup.

Katelyn Perry converted an assist from Lexi McCarthy 13 minutes into the game, then Perry set up scores by Haley Trunkett goal and Maddie Earnest. Rebecca Cedeno closed out the scoring frenzy on an assist by Alley Ethridge.

Carolina Forest goalkeepers Taylor Gazzani and Alley Ethridge had four combined saves as the Lady Panthers (4-1 overall, 2-0 region) remained unbeaten in league play.
