Morgan stars for CAC with seven wins, one runner-up

CAC at SMRT Early Bird Apr2017 IIThe Coastal Aquatic Club (CAC) sent 32 swimmers to Charleston as the Southern Marlins Racing Team (SMRT) hosted the 2017 SMRT Early Bird Invitational this past weekend at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Pool.

The meet marked the start of the Long Course season as swimmers will now compete in 50-meter (Olympic) pools at both indoor and outdoor facilities with the State Championship Meet to be held in Columbia at the end of July.

In total, 26 swimmers combined for 83 TOP SIX finishes.  Further, 12 swimmers combined for 43 Podium finishes (TOP THREE) for the meet:

• Ian Morgan: 1st in 200 Free; 1st in 100 Back; 1st in 100 Fly; 1st in 200 IM; 1st in 200 Fly; 1st in 200 Back; 1st in 400 Free; and 2nd in 100 Free.
• Casey Mitchell: 1st in 100 Back; 1st in 100 Fly; 1st in 200 IM; 1st in 200 Back; 3rd in 200 Free; 3rd in 100 Free; and 3rd in 400 Free.
• Saman Vitharana:  1st in 100 Breast; 2nd in 200 IM; 2nd in 50 Free; 2nd in 100 Free; 2nd in 50 Breast; 2nd in 100 Fly; and 3rd in 50 Fly.
• Ryan Boudreau:  1st in 50 Free; 1st in 400 Free; 3rd in 200 Free; 3rd in 100 Free.
• Ryan Eldred: 2nd in 200 Free; 2nd in 100 Fly; 2nd in 50 Free; 3rd in 100 Free; and 3rd in 200 Fly.
• John Grey Crosby: 2nd in 100 Fly; 2nd in 100 Free; 3rd in 100 Back; and 3rd in 50 Free.
• Ben Richards:  2nd in 100 Back.
• Ethan Nechemia: 2nd in 200 Fly.
• Kyran Vitharana:  3rd in 100 Breast; 3rd in 200 IM; and 3rd in 100 Fly.
• Ella Habib:  3rd in 200 Free.
•    Davy Zevgolis: 3rd in 100 Fly.
•    Christian Patricio:  3rd in 200 Fly.

Recently, 5 CAC swimmers are selected to participate in the Carolina Crown Meet to be held April 30th at the new Olympic Pool in Clover.  The meet with include a combined 200 swimmers age 15 – 18 from North Carolina and South Carolina.  CAC qualifiers are Olivia McGonigal, Kater Wolff, Taylor Steele, John Grey Crosby and Casey Mitchell.

CAC will be providing a Summer Swim League team beginning in June and running through the end of July.  Swim meets will be held on Thursday evenings at Pepper Geddings Recreation Center in Myrtle Beach.
