Nash Roundup: Carolina Forest squads salvage split

The Carolina Forest boys soccer team won its first game of the season Friday night in the Michael Nash Memorial Tournament, shutting out Hartsville 2-0 in North Myrtle Beach.

After a scoreless tie at halftime, Carolina Forest’s Javier Monroy and Sebastian Perez scored in the second half and the Panthers (1-1) defense did the rest to preserve the shutout over the Red Foxes.

The Panthers take on Georgetown at noon Saturday.

* Socastee 3, Airport 1: Matt Trimby scored a pair of goals for the Braves and teammate Connor Norton-Baker scored for the second straight night in a win over the Eagles.

* St. James 10, Georgetown 0: The Sharks offense exploded for double digits and improved to 2-0 on the season with a shutout victory over the Bulldogs.

Connor Sloan tallied a hat trick and Cole Culledge and Keaton Zimmer added two goals apiece. Enrique Morales, Quadarius Grate and Brandon Wallace rounded out the scoring for the Sharks, who have a shot to play in the championship game with another win in pool play.

* Conway 5, Airport 0: Ashton McCants recorded a hat trick for the Tigers in a shutout victory over the Eagles.

* Hartsville 4, Georgetown 3: The Red Foxes scored the game-winning goal in the waning minutes to down the Bulldogs.

Girls

* Airport 3, Carolina Forest 2: The Lady Eagles scored the game-winning goal with 3 minutes remaining in regulation in Friday night’s showdown in the Michael Nash Memorial Tournament.

Carolina Forest’s got goals from Riley Lynch and Erica Gazzani, who scored her third goal of the season for the Lady Panthers (1-1). They return to action at noon Saturday against Bluffton.

* Socastee 4, Bluffton 2: Amber Rutledge and Margaret Scalise scored two goals apiece to lead the Lady Braves to victory.

* Camden 3, North Myrtle Beach 0: Katie Tiller, Jazzmine Devlin and Breanna Barnes tallied goals for the Lady Blulldogs in shutting out the Lady Chiefs.

* Airport 2, Bluffton 1: Kaela Mansel scored both goals for the Lady Eagles in beating the Lady Bobcats.

* Camden 1, Aynor 0: Madison Woody scored the lone goal in the game to shut out the Lady Blue Jackets.
