Nine local teams kick off season at Nash Memorial

The high school soccer season gets under way in full force Thursday with the kickoff of the Michael Nash Memorial Tournament in North Myrtle Beach.

The North Myrtle Beach boys and girls teams will host the annual event with 21 games at three venues – the high school field on Sea Mountain Highway, North Strand Park on Highway 57 and Michael Nash Field on Possum Trot Road.

Eight boys and girls teams, including local squads from Carolina Forest, Conway, Socastee and St. James (boys only), will participate in the three-day tournament with the boys and girls finals held on Saturday afternoon.

The North Myrtle Beach boys, who made a surprising run to the Lower State finals last season, will kick things off a 5 p.m. Thursday against defending champion Socastee at NMBHS while the Lady Chiefs are facing Conway at the same time just down the road at North Strand Park. The full tournament is schedule is listed below:
