Track: NMB boys, girls win tri-meet against MB, GSF

The North Myrtle Beach boys and girls track teams ran away with a tri-meet against visiting Myrtle Beach and Green Sea Floyds on Wednesday.

The Lady Chiefs swept the scoring positions in both shot put and discus to rack up 130 team points and dominate Myrtle Beach (52) and Green Sea Floyds (12). The team also saw multiple girls score in more than one individual event.

Emily Barbosa set the school record in the pole vault, clearing 9 feet 6 inches to break the old record by 6 inches. She also placed first in the 400 and helped the 4×400 finish 1st. Jenna Downey had a great night running a fast early season time of 2:36 in the open 800 as well has helping both the 4×400 and 4×800 finish first place.

Jada Gore, Summer Ratley, Bionca Zink, Shania Parker, Tamisha Scott, Jermisha Moss, Malaaysia Williams, Abbey Carr, Jhayla Gerlad, Emily Barbosa, Macy Werner, Wilson Jenerette, and Tyshira Green all scored in at least two individual events on the night.

The Myrtle Beach were led by Altronisha Williams’ winning mark of 13-6 in the long jump. The Myrtle Beaxh boys were led by winners Xayvion Knox (long jump, 17-7), Chris Brown (discus, 125-10, Phillip Chung (400m, 56.99 seconds, and Ben Herriott (100m, 11.8 seconds)

The North Myrtle Beach boys turned in a similarly strong performance scoring 104 points competed the Myrtle Beach (52) and Green Sea Floyds (17). Check back for full boys results.

* The Carolina Forest girls track and field team won a quad-meet at home Wednesday, tallying 119 team points to defeat Waccamaw (112), Conway (61) and Georgetown (25).

Kayla Watkins led the Lady Panthers with a pair of wins – the long jump (15-4) and the high jump (5-0). Conway’s Antajae Whitehead won the 400 meters (1:04).
