In its first home game of the season, No. 23 Clemson looked to rebound from last week’s loss in Athens against the SC State Bulldogs, and it didn’t disappoint, as the Tigers cruised past the Bulldogs 73-7 Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
The Tigers totaled 735 total yards of offense, while holding SC State to 44, moving to 1-1 on the season heading into the bye week. Clemson moved the ball effectively on the ground and through the air, finishing the day with 268 rushing yards and 467 passing yards.
Cole Stoudt finished the day 22-31 passing for 302 yards and a touchdown. Deshaun Watson went 8-9 passing for 154 yards and three touchdowns, while also adding 20 rushing yards.
Artavis Scott led all receivers with 164 yards, setting a new Clemson record for receiving yards in a game by a freshman in the process.
