Wrestling: MB tops Foxes; NMB sweeps quad match

The Myrtle Beach High boys wrestling team captured a hard-fought victory over visiting Marion on Wednesday. The Seahawks edged the Swamp Foxes by a 44-36 score.

Myrtle Beach got wins via pin from Clifton Jones (145),, Javier Chan (182), Pedro Reyes (195) and Jacob Cisco (285). Daniel Mitchell (220) won by technical fall, Liron Ben Shoshan (160) won by decision, and Jose Silva (106) and Phillip Chung (152) won by forfeit to help the Seahawks clinch the win.

Myrtle Beach returns to action Thursday in a tri-match with Carolina Forest and Aynor before competing in the Sharks Duels at St. James on Saturday.

* North Myrtle Beach High wrestling team swept a quad meet at home Tuesday in impressive fashion, defeating Conway 45-9, Hartsville 50-27 and New Hanover (NC) 61-18.

North Myrtle Beach’s Jaylan Moses (132), Jackie Gore (138), Brennan Michael (152), Stephon Wilson (170), Rahsaan Vereen (182), Curtis Wolfe (195), Malachi Black (220) and Kwame Livingston (285) all finished the night with perfect 3-0 records.

The Chiefs travel to the Mat River Duels this weekend, while several local teams will compete in two local tournaments – the Shark Duels at St. James High and the Panther Beach Brawl at Carolina Forest.
