CAC swimmers earn last chance wins before state

CAC Palm Invite July 2017With the Long-Course State Championship meet approaching (July 20-23), Palmetto Aquatics (PALM) of Columbia, SC hosted their Last-Chance Summer Invite meet this weekend on the campus of the University of South Carolina.  The Coastal Aquatic Club (CAC) sent 20 swimmers to the meet. Harrison Clinton led the way by winning 6 of the 8 races he entered (400 IM; 1,500 Free; 200 Breast; 200 Fly; 100 Breast; and 100 Fly) and finished 2nd in the other two events (100 Free; 50 Free).  Ian Morgan (400 IM) and Cameron Bonham (400 Free) also recorded First Place finishes.  Given the Carolina Natatorium is a 10-lane pool, here is a list of other CAC TOP 10 finishes:

 

  • Ian Morgan: 2nd in 200 Fly; 4th in 1,500 Free (i.e., The Mile); 6th in 200 IM; 6th in 400 Free; 7th in 200 Free; 8th in 100 Breast;9th in 200 Back; and 10th in 100 Fly.
  • Cameron Bonham: 4th in 100 Free; 4th in 200 Back; and 9th in 100 Back.
  • Ethan Nechemia: 2nd in 800 Free; 9th in 400 IM.
  • Casey Mitchell: 5th in 200 Back; 5th in 100 Breast; 7th in 100 Back; 8th in 400 Free; and 9th in 200 IM.
  • Ella Habib: 6th in 100 Fly.
  • Jenn Paul: 7th in 200 Back.
  • Chandra Robideaux: 10th in 50 Breast.

Over this long-course season, 25 CAC swimmers have qualified for the State Championship Meet:

  • Girls:Kennedy Drew; Ella Habib; Jensen Helgerson; Olivia McGonigal; Sophia Murphy; Jordyn O’Dell; Marissa Patricio; Jenn Paul; Summer Ratley; Chandra Robideaux; Camila Sheppard; Taylor Steele; and Kater Wolff.
  • Boys: Cameron Bonham; Ryan Boudreau; Harrison Clinton; John Grey Crosby; Ryan Eldred; Tyler Eldred; Joe Guthinger; Casey Mitchell; Ian Morgan; Ethan Nechemia; Ben Richards; and Peyton Widner.

CAC’s Summer Swim League (SSL) team continues to compete every Thursday evening at the Pepper Geddings Pool in Myrtle Beach.  Summer Swim League will culminate with a Championship Meet at the end of July at Pepper Geddings.  Then, in August, area high school swimmers will begin training with their high respective high school teams.
