Pelicans serve up unique food at new Ring of Fire Grille

Pelicans Ballpark now has a license to grill with the grand opening of “The Ring of Fire Grille” down the right field line.

The Ring of Fire Grille features several new food items not found anywhere else in the ballpark. Highlighted among the new culinary sensations are Chicken Bog Balls, a unique twist on regional cuisine and winner of the 2012 Pelicans Homerun Recipe Contest.  The Bog Balls where the brainchild of The Socastee Station restaurant and beat out three other local finalists at a live judging event.

The Ring of Fire Grille also features premium steak sandwiches, half pound angus burgers, Italian sausages, bratwurst and veggie burgers.

“We set out to improve the fan experience through tantalizing smells and delectable new menu items,” said Pelicans General Manager Scott Brown.  “The opening of the Ring of Fire Grille marks the final piece of our goal to make Pelicans games the best combination of food and entertainment venue on the Grand Strand.”

The name Ring of Fire Grille highlights the open flames used in cooking the items available. Inspiration for the name came from the classic Johnny Cash song of the same name.

Pelicans Chairman Chuck Greenberg pointed out the team’s parent club, the Texas Rangers, plays this song at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington whenever the home team mounts a rally with Texas runners circling the opponents’ pitcher on the bases. The Pelicans will adopt this tradition at home games the rest of the season.

The opening of the Ring of Fire completes all the new enhancements to the Pelicans menu this season.  Food items like fried pickles, giant turkey legs, funnel cakes, handmade ice cream waffle cones and fried bologna have already been available at concessions stands all season.

Fans can always get food and drinks at the main concession stands, where you can now try to survive your own Man v. Food conquest with two new options, giant turkey legs and a savory Boar’s Head brisket sandwich. You will surely get a sugar rush with the new funnel cakes in the Bullpen Grille and hand-made waffle cones available at the Scoop Shoppe.

Wiener World is also new this season!  Located down the first base line, fans can create their own hotdog with up to 12 toppings.  The 10-inch ‘Pelican Dog’ is the stand’s specialty, and can be built to each fan’s own mouthwatering specifications.
