Pelicans to host pro softball games, camps this summer

npfsoftThe Myrtle Beach Pelicans and TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark will host the Pennsylvania Rebellion, a National Pro Fastpitch women’s softball team, in a pair of games at 7:05 p.m. on July28 and 29.

“We’re excited to bring National Pro Fastpitch to Myrtle Beach and showcase the incredibly talented professional female athletes on these two teams,” said Pelicans general manager Andy Milovich. “These women have worked hard to reach the professional level and are a great example for any young female athlete.”

In addition to the two games, youth athletes will have the opportunity to learn from players and coaches of both the Rebellion and Scrapyard Dawgs at a softball camp from 9 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 28. The camp will concentrate on pitching, hitting, fielding, catching and throwing. Registration is $100 and includes a t-shit, lunch and reserved box seat ticket to one game (July 28 or 29). For more information, please contact the Pelicans Pro Shop at (843) 918-6002 or visit www.MyrtleBeachPelicans.com.

The two-day event is part of a slate of games that the Rebellion will play at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, the home ballpark of the Class A Delmarva Shorebirds, as well as Pennsylvania sports complexes in York, Lancaster and Allentown, respectively.

“We are looking forward to bringing the Rebellion and NPF softball to one of the premier vacation destinations on the east coast,” Rebellion general manager Steve Zavacky said. “This has been over a year in the making and Andy and his staff have been great to work with. We are looking forward to a great two days at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.”

National Pro Fastpitch has existed in its current form since 2004 and is an official development partner for Major League Baseball in the sport of fastpitch softball. The league has six teams playing a 50-game schedule throughout the year featuring seven-inning contests.
