Rematches, rivalries mark this week’s sports lineup

Rematches will highlight the high school sports schedule this week as several hoops teams play the second round of home-and-away matches with local rivals.

On Tuesday, the Carolina Forest girls visit North Myrtle Beach for a return game following a 44-43 victory over the Lady Chiefs last week. The boys play at Carolina Forest, while Myrtle Beach heads to Socastee and St. James hosts Socastee in doubleheaders.

A big local wrestling match takes the spotlight Wednesday with Carolina Forest hosting North Myrtle Beach. On the hardwood, the Conway and St. James boys and girls play a split twinbill, and Christian Academy gets a rematch with Freedom Christian, which took a 64-61 win earlier this season in Fayetteville, NC. The Saints welcome region rival Trinity-Byrnes on Thursday and travel to Northwood Academy on Friday.

North Myrtle Beach and Socastee face out-of-county foes on Thursday. Friday night sees another big rematch on the basketball court at Carolina Forest visits Myrtle Beach. The Seahawks swept the Panthers last week, including a 66-65 thriller in the boys game. Conway and North Myrtle Beach, and St. James and Socastee play a pair of split doubleheaders the same night.
