Riptides host meet for Breast Cancer Awareness

Riptides Racing Team hosted the 5th annual MBR “IM” for Breast Cancer Awareness  Meet over the weekend. 21 Riptide swimmers competed, achieving numerous state qualifying times, best times, and first time swims. The Riptides is donating all fees associated with all breaststroke events to The Susan B Komen Foundation, the team raised $500 dollars this year.

The meet was an IMX scoring event, where swimmers complete a series of distant events in all strokes. Swimmers are then ranked across the state and nation for their age group. Results from the weekend are:

* Leading the Squad was Jake Flaherty with 9/9 best times, with significant time drops, and 8 state cuts in the 1650, 200, 100, and 50 freestyle, 400 and 200 IM, 200 backstroke, and 100 fly.
* Tony Zhang swam to 4 state qualifying times with his 4 first time swims-200 IM, 200 Breast, 100 Back and 100 free.
* Kai Wilmot added 500 and 200 free, and 100 Back to his 2 previous state qualifying times.
* Hannah McDonough swam to 9/9 best times, with significant time drops, and a state “Q” time in her 200 Back.
* Peyton McWhorter put in 4 best times, with state “Q” times in her 400 and 200 IM, 200 Fly, 100 and 50 freestyle events.
* Connor Churchill achieved 9/9 best times, large time drops, and a state “Q” time in the 1650 freestyle.
* Allison Ludeman and Maggie Simmons put in first time swims and did a great job.
* Joshua Cassey: 2 best times, 2 first time swims
* Thomas Cassey: 1 best time, 2 first time swims
* Josh Crauder: 1 best time, 1 first time swim.
* Tyce Desnoyers: 6 first time swims
* Kara deBidart: 5 first time swims, including the 200 free-a big race for a little swimmer!
* Kylie McWhorter: 6 best times, 1 first time swim, and a total of 4+ minutes time drop, almost 3 of those in her 1650 freestyle event.
* Maddox McWhorter: 3 best times, 1 first time swim, and two 40+ second drops in his 200 free and 100 back events.

* Seth Riley: 5 best times and 3 first time swims.
* Ireland Rose: 4 best times, 1 first time swim, and large time drops in her 1650 free and 400 IM events.
* Ella Speir: 9/9 best times, and large time drops in her 1650 free, 200 fly, 500 free, and 400 IM.
* Cameron Tedrow: 4 best times, 3 first time swims, with a large time drop in his 200 free.
* Wesley Tedrow: 1 best time and 4 first time swims.
* McKenzie Washko: 1 best time and 2 first time swims.
