Riptides make successful plunge at Polar Bear meet

Riptides Racing’s swimmers braved the cold weather and icy roads to compete in the Polar Bear Invitational in Greensboro, NC over the weekend.

Eleven swimmers made up the squad, swimming to numerous best times and one new State Qualifying Time.

Kai Wilmot lead off with 8 best times, 8 top ten finishes, one of those a second for his first time swim, the 200 back. Kai added a new state cut in his 100 free.

Cameron Tedrow came away with 4 best times and a 5+ second drop in his 200 back.

Peyton McWhorter was right on her times with 5 top ten finishes, a 3rd in the 100 back and 200 IM, a 2nd in the 200 back and the1000 free, and a 1st place in the 100 fly.

Little brother Maddox swam to 4 best times with a 7+ second drop in the 100 back.

Sister Kylie came away with 3 best times and a first time swim in the 1000 free.

Hannah McDonough made 3 best times, 7 top 10 finishes, a 3rd place in the 200 breast, 2nd place in the 200 fly, and a first time swim , 1000 free.

Allison Ludeman swam to 6 best times, 4 first time swims, and a 10+ second drop in the 200 free.

Mason Kinmartin had 2 best times, 2 first time swims, and a 10+ second drop in the 100 fly.

Sister Emma put in 3 best times with a 12+ second drop in the 200 breast stroke and an 18 second drop in her 500 freestyle.

Jake Flaherty made 3 best times, 6 top 10 finishes, a 3rd place in the 200 fly, 100 fly, and the 1000 free where he dropped almost 13 seconds.

Tyce Desnoyers swam to one best time in his 200 free, dropping almost 23 seconds and 2 first time swims.

Rounding out the squad was Connor Churchill with 5 best times, 7 top ten finishes, and a 1:00+ drop in the 1000 freestyle.

Riptide swimmers will continue their work towards the 2018 SC State Championships.
