Riptides swimmers dive into fall season with home meet

riptideslogoThe Riptides Racing Team hosted the first meet of the 12/Under Grand Prix Series on September 26 at the “Pepper” Geddings Recreation Center.

The closed-series meet had over 180 participants from Myrtle Beach, Mount Pleasant and Charleston. More than 20 members of Riptides Racing Team competed achieving more than 30 personal best times, five new SC Swimming State Championship qualifying times and a new team record.

Jake Flaherty swam to four personal best times and earned his first 11-12 State Championship q-time in the 50-yard backstroke. Joe Guthinger swam to three personal best times and new State Championship q-times in the 50-yard freestyle and 200-IM.

Hannah McDonough also achieved three personal best times and earned a State Championship standard in the 200-IM.  McDonough set her first Ripdes’ record in the 50-yard butterfly. Ireland Rose earned four personal best times and raced to a new State Championship standard in the 50-yard breaststroke.

Jack Guthinger, Ella Habib, Dave Hablani, Prerna Hablani, Olivia Lyons, Kylie McWhorter, Brady Morris, Sterigos Paraschos, Seth Riley and Ella Speir each earned best times.
