Tennis: Seahawks sweep Chiefs; Saints edge PDA

The Myrtle Beach High girls tennis team lost only one set in the entire match en route to sweeping rival North Myrtle Beach 6-0 on Tuesday.

Myrtle Beach’s No. 1 singles player Bailey Deskins, No. 2 Pazton Gentry, No. 3 Carrington Callihan and No. 4 Janell Horton cruised to 6-0, 6-0 victories. No. 5 Jalah Horton suffered the lone singles set loss, settling for a 6-0, 6-1 win.

Myrtle Beach’s freshman duo at No. 2 doubles team Cassidy Friend and Carly Starnes also swept their match. The No. 1 doubles match was not played.

The Lady Seahawks remain undefeated in Region 7-4A play and return home to face Wilson on Wednesday.

* Christian Academy of MB 5, Pee Dee Academy 4: The Lady Saints battled to was a SCISA Region 3-2A victory to improve to 2-1 in the region.

Christian Academy returns home to host Trinity-Byrnes at Prestwick Country Club on Thursday.
