Sixth-place Henderson lifts CCU to top-10 finish at CDI

Brittany Henderson fired an even par 72 on the third and final round of the Central District Invitational to card a sixth place finish (tied) and lead the Coastal Carolina women’s golf team to a 10th overall finish.

The Chanticleers finished the tournament with a score of 906 after turning in rounds of 297, 307 and 302 on the par-72, 6,218-yard course.  TCU captured the team title with an overall score of 882 (297-289-296), while No. 25 Oklahoma (291-293-299=883), No. 5 Vanderbilt (293-294-297=884), No. 7 LSU (291-301-293=885) and No. 26 Michigan State (295-294-298=887) rounded out the top five.

The freshman turned in a score of 76, which included four birdies, Tuesday in the third round. The finish was the highest of Castillo’s young career as a Chanticleer.

Senior Kaitlin Higginbotham finished one stroke behind Castillo which tied for 38th with an overall score of 229 after posting rounds of 73, 78 and 78.  Jessica Alexander tied for 47th with a two-day total of 231 (76-79-76), while sophomore Courtney Boe rounded out the Coastal contingent with a score of 246 (79-85-82).
