Socastee boys, NMB girls take second at XC meet

Five Grand Strand area cross country teams hit the ground running at the North Myrtle Beach Invitational on Tuesday with Waccamaw sweeping the boys and girls divisions.

The North Myrtle Beach girls finished a close second after capturing the second, third and fourth spot individually. Wilson Jenerette finished second behind medalist Annabelle Scully of Waccamaw, followed by fellow Lady Chiefs and sisters Breeauna and Isabelle Spickler. St. James placed third, Myrtle Beach finished fourth, and Socastee rounded out the order.

The Socastee boys took second place with its top three runners taking ninth, 10th and 11th place individually. Myrtle Beach finished third, thanks to runner-up Tyler Flannelly’s runner-up showing. He finished only 8 seconds behind medalist Perrin Jones of Waccamaw. St. James was fourth behind fourth-place individual Ryan Hughes, and North Myrtle Beach rounded out the finishing order.
