Soccer: NMB, MB boys win by shutout; CF girls escape

nmbsoc-goalieThe North Myrtle Beach High boys soccer team recorded its sixth shutout of the season Thursday night with a 1-0 victory over visiting Carolina Forest.

Deadlocked in a scoreless draw in the second half, North Myrtle Beach’s Hamdane Aoudou scored the game-winner to help the Chiefs improve to 8-3-2 overall and 3-1 in Region 7-4A play.

North Myrtle Beach goalkeeper Matt Wilson made a pair of saves and the Chiefs’ defense shut down the Panthers throughout the contest.

The Chiefs return to action Tuesday with a big region showdown with rival Myrtle Beach.

* Myrtle Beach 12, Marlboro County 0: The Seahawks spread the ball around tp the tune of a dozen goals in a shutout of the Bulldogs.

Myrtle Beach’s Anrick Smith played goalie in the first half to share in the shutout before taking the field and scoring a goal on the other end. Avery O’Connell came in to guard the Seahawks’ goal in the second half.

Other Seahawks scorers included Jr Stanley )2 goals), Max Ferguson (2 goals, 1 assist), Tomer Tal (2 goals, 2 assists), Isaiah Ivey (1 goal, 3 assists), Oregon Alan (1 goal, 1 assist), Mauricio Velasquez (1 goal, 1 assist), Shavoy Brown (1 goal, 1 assist)

Myrtle Beach (6-3-1, 3-1) Faces a big region contest with North Myrtle Beach on Tuesday.

* Carolina Forest 2, Conway 1: The Lady Panthers overcame a tough challenge from the Lady Tigers to earn a region win.

The Lady Panthers started the scoring with a goal by Kacey Brown, assisted by Mattie Earnest on a nice cross, for a 1-0 haltime lead. After Conway level the score at 1-all in the second half, Abbie McCoy when she dribbled through the Conway defense to find her shot at the game-winner

Next up for Carolina Forest is West Florence on Tuesday.
