Soccer: Sharks top Chiefs; Socastee girls beat CAMB

sjsoc-5The St. James High boys soccer team was awarded with the state’s No. 2 ranking in Class 4A on Sunday. On Monday, the Sharks went out and backed it up with a 3-1 win over No. 8 North Myrtle Beach.

Coming off a huge win over No. 4 Myrtle Beach on Friday, the Sharks lived up to their No. 2 ranking and strengthened their hold on first place in the Region 7-4A standings by defeating the Chiefs on their home field.

St. James’ Luke Williams scored all three goals for the hat trick and Garrett Greene added an assist. The Sharks scored two goals in the first half to seize early control of the match and they never looked back.

Girls

* Socastee High girls soccer team stepped outside of SCHSL play Monday night to take on an up-and-coming SCISA program in the Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach.

The Lady Braves got a pair of goals each from Haley Altman and Katelyn Price to claim a 4-2 win over the Lady Saints. Christian Academy got both pf its goals from Brae Jackson.

Socastee goalkeeper Mackenzie Runyon made five saves for the Lady Braves.
