Ten ex-Chants selected to Big South All-Decade Team

ccufoot-bennettTen ex-Chanticleers, including former coach David Bennett, were named to the Big South Conference’s All-Decade Football Team on Thursday.

Former Chants making the list include quarterback Tyler Thigpen, who spent six seasons in the NFL, fullback and current Carolina Panther Mike Tolbert, and Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson.

Other Coastal alums on the all-decade list are running back Patrick Hall, offensive linemen Brad Poston and Antwon Trice, defensive lineman Adrian Grady and defensive back Quinton Teal. Bennett rounds out the CCU honorees with three Big South titles

As part of the Big South’s 30th Anniversary celebration, the league announced its first-ever All-Decade Team to recognize the student-athletes and coaches who excelled in their respective sport since the Conference’s founding in 1983.

A committee of Big South Conference administrators served as the official voting panel to determine the All-Decade Teams, with fan voting comprising 20 percent of the overall total. Below is the All-Decade Team for Football for the years 2002-09:
