Ten reasons to watch Broncos-Seahawks in Super Bowl

col-joelbeachumAside from the obvious matchup between the Denver Broncos’ No. 1 offense vs. the Seattle Seahawks’ No. 1 defense, here are the top 10 reasons to watch this year’s Super Bowl:

1)  Football – First and foremost, it is just the biggest football game on the planet that happens only once a year; plus did I mention that it was football!

2) Two words – Broncos/Seahawks: Just to see whether or not the best offense can outdo the best defense.

3) Commercials, commercials, commercials: No matter if it is Pepsi, Doritos, Axe Deodrant, GoDaddy.com, Budweiser, General Motors, or any other, the game always produces some of the most talked about commercials of the year. Plus, they cost about $4 million each to show.

4) Pizza, wings, chips and more: It is the one day of the year when it is perfectly normal and natural and even generally considered un-American not to consume at least an entire pizza, a dozen wings, an entire bag of chips (Doritos), and tons of other snacks that your doctor would fuss at you about.

5) Entertainment, parties, friends, fun and HD TVs: Those five words pretty much sum up a good enough explanation of reason number five for watching.

6) The amount of losses that the Seattle Seahawks had this year times two makes the number six, which is hard to believe in this era that a team has gone a total of 15-3 for the duration of the regular season and the playoffs.

7) Seven, as in the number of times that the Broncos have made it to the Super Bowl. They are actually 2-4 in the previous six games. The last two of which they won led by current Denver Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway. Some consider seven the perfect number; so we shall see if that holds true later.

8) Similar to that of the No. 18 worn by Denver quarterback Peyton Manning, who set a career mark in passing yards and passing touchdowns this season in the NFL on his way to winning the AP Offensive Player of the Year Award and the AP Most Valuable Player Award.

9) The number of Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson (No. 3) times three, and 9/3×5=15, and that marks the number of years corner back legend Champ Bailey of the Broncos has been playing, now playing in his first Super Bowl.

10) 10×10 = 100, and that makes up the number of people that I asked to predict the game with the general consensus being Denver by 7. They say “Defense wins Championships,” but maybe a good offense is the best defense.

My prediction: Denver 31, Seattle 24
