Tennis: Saints stop Sharks; Chiefs take down Panthers

nmbten-serveThe Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach boys tennis tennis team avenged its lone loss of the season Monday by defeating St. James 5-2.

After falling the Sharks by a narrow 4-3 decision earlier in the season, the Saints (3-1) won a pair of third-set tiebreakers to turn the tables in the rematch.

Christian Academy’s No. 1 singles Allen Butler defeated Nico Hoffman 0-6, 6-2, 10-8, and No. 3 Brett Bass edged Joseph Lewis 6-2, 5-7, 10-6.

The Saints added wins at No. 2 singles as Braden McCauley swept Sullivan Young 6-3, 6-4, and No. 4 as Jason Digeronimo downed Ryan Cooper 6-3, 6-0. St. James No. 5 Dylan Silvas beat Stephen Parker 8-3 in a pro set.

The two teams split doubles as Christian Academy’s No. 1 duo of Butler/McCauley defeated Hoffman/Young 8-4, and St. James No. 2 Seagle/Knight beat Jemison/Johnson 6-1, 6-2.
