Tickets available for USC, CCU, Clemson in Columbia

Coastal Carolina will play in the NCAA Columbia Regional with two familiar foes, facing second-seed Clemson on Friday at noon (ESPNU or ESPN3) in the opening round. National eighth-seed South Carolina, the two-time defending NCAA Champion, will face Manhattan at 4 pm.

Coastal Carolina’s Department of Athletics has received a limited allotment of tickets for Friday’s NCAA Regional opening-round game featuring Coastal Carolina and Clemson. First pitch set for Noon.

The allotment, again for the CCU-Clemson game only, will be for the outfield bleacher seats and are $15 each. These tickets may be purchased through the Coastal Carolina Department of Athletics Ticket Office at 843-347-8499. Chanticleer Athletic Fund (CAF) members will have the first opportunity to purchase the limited allotment, starting at 9 am Tuesday.

If any tickets remain after the close of business Tuesday, the general public will have an opportunity to purchase what is left, starting at 9 am Wednesday.

All other tickets should be ordered through the University of South Carolina Department of Athletics Ticket Office. Tickets are available now through at 803-777-4274 or online at www.GamecocksOnline.com/tickets<http://www.GamecocksOnline.com/tickets>.  Tickets are $15 each and books are $77 each and are available now for purchase. Coastal Carolina will be given a limited allotment, which will first be made available to the student-athletes, staff and donors based on priority points. Coastal does not expect to have any of its allotment remaining after these groups have been addressed.

Coastal Carolina (41-17) will be making its 11th NCAA Regional appearance in the last 12 years, including a streak of six straight. The Chanticleers defeated Clemson (33-26) earlier this season, 10-7, in Clemson despite making five errors in the game – four of which came in the sixth inning.

In addition to meeting annual during the regular season, Coastal and Clemson have met in the 2007 Myrtle Beach Regional and 2011 Clemson Regional. Including Coastal’s win on April 24, Clemson owns a 40-8 advantage in the series.

The Chanticleers and Gamecocks of South Carolina last met in the 2010 Myrtle Beach Regional. South Carolina claimed a pair of one-run victories, 4-3 and 10-9, to advance to the College World Series and win the first of its two national titles.
