Wrestling: WB takes Shark Duels; NMB wins Hampton

West Brunswick, the lone North Carolina team in the tournament, escaped across the border with the championship of the Shark Duels on Saturday at St. James High.

The Trojans went undefeated on the day to edge the host Sharks for the team title. Runner-up St. James only loss accompanied wins over Conway, Aynor, Georgetown and Myrtle Beach, which managed to finish third.

The Sharks claimed a hard-fought 42-34 victory over the Seahawks in a match that decided second place.

Myrtle Beach also defeated Aynor 6-12, Conway 42-33 and Georgetown 54-6. Myrtle Beach’s Pedro Reyes (195), Daniel Mitchell (220) and Jacob Cisco (285) each went 5-0 in their individual matches.

* North Myrtle Beach captured the championship of the Wade Hampton Duels by taking a three-time tiebreaker via the highest total team points.
