Wrestling: NMB pins Tigers; Panthers claim tri-meet split

nmbwrestle-nmbdualsThe Carolina Forest wrestling team split a home tri-meet Wednesday, defeting Aynor 54-21 before suffering a tough loss to St. James 39-33.

The Panthers avenged a tough loss to the Blue Jackets last year with a convincing victory this time around. The Panthers got pins from Christian Cappola, Noah Sritan, John Winzenried. Andol Johnson and Dean Duncan, and PJ Wunderlich, Corey Conover and Richie Kriescher also helped the team with wins by decision or major decision.

Carolina Forest switched its wrestlers to different weight class in an attempt to compete with the Sharks, and the strategy almost worked. Pins came from Wunderlich, Kriescher and Johnson, who earned his second pin of the night, Coppola, Sritan and Braeden Bernhardt pulled out wins to come within one match of a team victory.
