Beach Ball Classic brings top teams, talent to MBCC

The 38th annual Beach Ball Classic tips off Wednesday with 16 of the top high school boys basketball teams in the country taking part in the week-long event at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

This year’s field features some of the best teams and players in the nation, including Cox Mills (NC) and Duke commitment Wendell Moore, Archbishop Stepinac (NY) standout AJ Griffin, and Christ The King (NY) big man Moussa Cisse.

The field also includes three local teams in action – Myrtle Beach, Socastee and Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach.

Action gets under way at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday with four games set for opening day. Tournament play continues Thursday, Friday and Saturday, followed by the 3-point shooting and slam dunk contests on Sunday and the championship games on Monday.
