Boys Hoops: Lindsey’s 31 lifts Chiefs past lowly Lions

nmbhoops-lindseyThe North Myrtle Beach High boys enjoyed a hot shooting night to blow out rival Loris 77-55 on Friday night.

Josh Lindsey erupted for a career-high 31 points to lead the Chiefs (11-3) to the easy win over the Lions, who were outscored 26-13 in the third period as NMB took control for good.

NMB’s Cameron Gore chipped in nine points for the Chiefs, who open region play Monday at St. James.

* Conway 48, St James 28: The Tigers used a 19-6 run in the third quarter to rout the Sharks (5-9) in a final tuneup before region play.

Conway’s Jalen Hennigan exploded for 21 points to lead the Tigers, while Zach Werba was the lone double-digit scorer for the Sharks with 12 points.

* Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach 77, Coastal Christian Prep 54: Austin Guyton turned in a huge double-double for the second straight night to help the Saints (9-5 overall, 3-0 SCISA 3A) remain undefeated in region play.

Guyton posted game-highs in both scoring and rebounding with 18 points and 17 boards, and teammate Garrett Richards also delivered in both categories with 14 points and five rebounds. Bernard Jones added 12 points and Josh Lang dropped in 11.

* Carolina Forest 55, Carvers Bay 32: The Panthers (6-7) won for the second straight night with an impressive victory over the host Bears.

Leading just 27-20 at the half, the Carolina Forest defense limited Carvers Bay to 12 second-half points. The Panthers got 12 points apiece from Zavier Jones and Parker Helgerson.
