Boys Tennis: MB avenges loss to PG; NMB edges CF

The Myrtle Beach boys tennis team took back-to-back wins over non-region foes, downing Porter Gaud 4-2 on Thursday and Socastee 6-1 on Wednesday.

Thursday’s win saw the Seahawks (15-2 overall) avenge 4-3 loss to PG last month back. Leading the Seahawks in singles were #1 Josh Wallen over Manning Snyder 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, #2 John Cahill over Lucas Acevedo 6-4, 6-4, #3 Rivers Cahill defeated Andrew Harvin 6-1, 6-4, #4 Dever Smith lost in a 3rd tiebreaker 2-6, 7-6, 11-9 to Harris Stripling and #5 WJ Vaught lost in a 3rd set tiebreaker to Jack Brutzer 2-6, 7-6, 11-9. In doubles action, the #2 doubles Team of Carson Duerk and Bailey Morrow won over Andrew Robertson and Jacob Cuacco by a score of 6-3, 6-3.

In Wednesday match, #1 singles Josh Wallen lost in a 3rd set tiebreaker 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 to Noah Johnson, #2 John Cahill defeated Robert Wartsler in a 3rd set tiebreaker 6-1, 6-7(7-5), 10-7, #3 Rivers Cahill won over Lap Chan 6-2, 6-1, #4 Dever Smith defeated Arav Patel 6-0, 6-2, #5 Bailey Morrow won over Alan Lucas 6-2, 6-1. In Doubles play, #1 William Truluck and Ryan Burch won over Sawyer Osborne and Jayden Ferris 8-1 and the #2 doubles team of Andrew O’Brien and Blake Long defeated Isiah Gransom and Chandan Parachuri by a score of 8-3.

The Seahawks next match is at 5 p.m. Monday at home vs West Florence.

* Wilson 7, North Myrtle Beach 0: The Chiefs were swept by Thursday following a hard-fought 4-3 win over Carolina Forest on Wednesday.

Against the Panthers, the Chiefs won individual matches by Jude Wilkey, West Harrell and Charles Cornell-Hayes. The doubles team of Wilkey and West clinched the match with their first doubles win.
