Braves, Lady Chiefs run to Horry XC Championships

The North Myrtle Beach girls and Socastee boys claimed first place at the Horry County Cross Country Championships on Wednesday at the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex.

Conway seniors Shane Moody (127:11) and Kenia Smith (20:14) broke the team for the individual boys and girls titles.

The North Myrtle Beach girls took second and third with Wilson Jenerette and Bree Spickler finishing with identical times of 21:03. The rest of the Lady Chiefs earned top-10 finishes for 28 team points – well ahead of runner-up St. James (59) and third-place Myrtle Beach (89). 127 Carolina Forest (127), Conway (134) and Socastee (190) finished fifth through seventh.

In boys action, Tyler Ward finished fifth to lead Socastee, which saw its top five runners place in the top 13 for 45 team points. Runner-up Carolina Forest (83) edged Conway (88) and St. James (105). Myrtle Beach (134) and North Myrtle Beach (154) finished sixth and seventh.
