Braves remain unbeaten in region by taking down MB

amann vs hodge-3 (2)The No. 3-ranked Socastee High wrestling team remained undefeated in region action with a 59-21 victory over visiting rival Myrtle Beach.

The Braves (18-1 overall, 4-0 region) got pins by Dylan Martin (120), John Leggett (152), Andrew Badoo (170) and Zach Mor (182), and Justin Knipper (126) earned an 18-2 technical fall to lead the Braves. Socastee’s Eugene Utley, Quin Gammon (113) Joe Smolenski (195) and Kyle Burton (220) won by forfeits.

Myrtle Beach’s lone pin came by Amir Oukada (285), and Bobby Wilfong (160) earned an 8-2 decision for the Seahawks’ lone on-mat wins. Ezra Flowers (138) and Scott Long (145) won by forfeits.

The most anticipated match of the night ended in a disqualification of Myrtle Beach’s Camron Ammon, who was going for his 100th career win against his former school.  Socastee’s Jordan Hodge was awarded the win after suffering an injury.

The Braves and Seahawks will compete in the Sharks Invitational at St. James High this weekend.
