BUFC, Coast FA teams net 4 of 5 CASL tourney titles

pumaprideThe Grand Strand sent five local club teams to the CASL National Qualifier in Raleigh, NC, over Labor Day weekend and all five advanced to the finals of their respective divisions, with four bringing home championships.

The Beach United Football Club and Coast FA Crush represented the Grand Strand well by dominating one of the toughest events on the East Coast. CASL is one of the largest club’s in the country with more than 27,000 registered players and hosts very good events. By winning their respective age groups in the highest level of competition offered, all five teams are automatically accepted for the prestigious  CASL College Showcase in December.

Three teams from Coast FA  entered the CASL Qualifier and all three returned home with championships. The Coast 99 Crush saved their best effort of the weekend for the final and posted a clean sheet 3-0 win over Triangle Futbol Club.

Coach Joel Banta enlisted some help from Coach Justin Wolf and together they managed to take both the Coast 99 and Coast 00 Red boys teams to the podium to accept championships. The 99s gutted out four competitive matches including two narrow wins over a game squad from the Outer Banks.  The Coast 00 Red played their first ever tournament for Coach Banta and were hitting on all cylinders the entire weekend. The boys posted three one-sided results before hanging on for a 2-1 win in the finals.

The BUFC PridePumas avenged their lone loss of the tournament by running the table to the championship game and winning the Under 12 Girls First Division title. After falling 1-0 to the MYSA Force G, the PridePumas scored wins of 6-0 and 4-1 to set up a rematch. This time the PridePumas came out on top by a 1-0 score to capture the championship.

The BUFC Fury also reached the title match of the Under 13 Girls First Division. After going 2-0-1 in pool play, scoring wins of 6-2, 3-2 and a 1-1 draw, the Fury fell to the undefeated OBX Storm in the finals by a 5-2 score.
