BUFC hosts MB Preseason Classic; Coast FA hits road

Beach United Football Club opened the 2018 season over the weekend by hosting the Myrtle Beach Preseason Classic at The Market Common sports complex.

Four BUFC teams – two boys and two girls – went undefeated over the weekend to capture their respective division championships, and another team finished runner-up to give the host club a lot of momentum going into the year.

In boys action, the BUFC Lions went undefeated to run away with the U-11 Boys title. They allowed only one goal in three games while scoring nine to claim the championship.

The BUFC Strikers also ran the table in the U-12 Boys division, scoring a total of 28 goals in four games while allowing only one. In the U-14 division, the BUFC Thunder and Force finished third and fourth, respectiuvely, as did the BUFC Warriors and Legends in the U-17/18 Boys division.

In girls action, the BUFC Pumas went 3-0 to win the Girls U-15-17 championship. They allowed only one goal all weekend on a contested penalty kick call and conversion. The younger Flash squad took second in their pool.

The BUFC Panthers went a perfect 3-0 to capture the U-14 Girls title, outscoring opponents by a combined score of 17-3. The BUFC Tigers went 2-1 to take second place in the U-12 Girls division.

The tournament caps a stellar start of a busy fall season as several teams begin league and tournament play in September.

* Coast FA select teams opened up their fall season in Chapel Hill, N.C. over the weekend at the Triangle United Classic.

The Coast 07 Red team hit the ground running and cruised through the U12 top division with four one sided results. The boys scored seventeen goals while allowing only one against four North Carolina opponents.

The Coast 2010 boys pool split up into two balanced teams for the Triangle tournament due to the schedule requiring a head to head match up. Coaches Manny Ardeljan and Connor Norton Baker guided the two teams to a first and third place finish in the group of five teams. The Red Raven squad posted four consecutive victories and claimed the championship trophy while the Red Griffon’s only lose came at the hands of their club teammates.
