CAC swimmers capture top spots at Thanksgiving meet

Palmetto Aquatics (PALM) hosted the 2018 Thanksgiving Invite Meet on the campus of the University of South Carolina this past weekend. Approximately 820 swimmers from 19 swim clubs from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia participated, including 40 swimmers from the Coastal Aquatic Club (CAC). This is short course swimming season, which means a 25-yard competition pool.

Nine CAC swimmers combined for 20 podium finishes (TOP 3) with 4 swimmers posting multiple wins: Ian Morgan (3); Harrison Clinton (2); Kayla Aguilar (2); and Chandra Robideaux (2). Other podium finishers were Taylor Steele, Savannah Jansky, Yuri Costa, Casey Mitchell, and John Grey Crosby. Overall, 21 CAC swimmers (over half the meet squad) combined for 67 TOP 10 finishes:

* Ian Morgan: 1st in 1,000 Free; 1st in 500 Free; 1st in 400 IM; 4th in 200 Free; 5th in 200 IM; and 10th in 100 Fly.
* Harrison Clinton: 1st in 200 Breast; 1st in 100 Breast; 2nd in 400 IM; 5th in 200 Fly; 6th in 100 Fly; and 7th in 200 IM.
* Kayla Aguilar: 1st in 100 Back; 1st in 200 Free; 2nd in 100 IM; 3rd in 100 Free; 3rd in 50 Fly; 3rd in 100 Fly; 4th in 100 Breast; and 5th in 50 Free.
* Chandra Robideaux: 1st in 50 Back; 1st in 50 Free; 4th in 50 Breast; 5th in 100 Free; 5th in 50 Fly; 7th in 100 Fly; 8th in 100 Back; and 10th in 200 Free.
* Casey Mitchell: 2nd in 200 Back; 3rd in 500 Free; 4th in 100 Back; 4th in 400 IM; and 8th in 200 Free.
* Taylor Steele: 2nd in 50 Free; 5th in 100 Free.
* Yuri Costa: 2nd in 50 Free.
* Savannah Jansky: 2nd in 200 Fly.
* John Grey Crosby: 3rd in 100 Free; 5th in 100 Back; 7th in 50 Free; 8th in 200 Back; and 9th in 200 Free.
* Joe Guthinger: 4th in 1,000 Free; 4th in 500 Free; 5th in 200 Free; and 7th in 200 Back.
* Molly Tate: 4th in 200 Fly; 10th in 100 Fly.
* Ella Habib: 5th in 100 Fly; 7th in 400 IM.
* Christian Patricio: 5th in 100 Fly; 10th in 200 Fly.
* Saman Vitharana: 5th in 100 Breast.
* Ryan Eldred: 6th in 100 Free; 7th in 200 Free; 7th in 100 Fly; 8th in 200 Fly; 9th in 500 Free; and 9th in 100 Back.
* Logan Mendieta: 6th in 50 Breast; 10th in 100 Breast.
* Ryan Boudreau: 7th in 200 Free; 10th in 50 Back.
* Michael Paglio: 8th in 100 Back.
* Chloe Stampfle: 8th in 200 Back.
* Jack Guthinger: 9th in 50 Breast.
* Alyssa Boudreau: 10th in 200 Free.

For Saturday, the older swimmers had a morning preliminary session and evening finals session for top qualifiers. In addition to the TOP TEN finishes noted above, the following swimmers qualified for at least one consolation final (places 11-20): Allyssa Boudreau; Ryan Boudreau; Joe Guthinger; Ella Habib; Casey Mitchell; Michael Paglio; Marissa Patricio; Chloe Stampfle; and Saman Vitharana.

Upcoming meets for CAC swimmers include Grand Prix meets in Charleston and full-squad meets in Rock Hill and Clemson. Throughout short-course season, swimmers are working to qualify for the State Championship Meet held in Greenville in February.
