CAC swimmers score wins at Lower Palmetto meet

Carolina Aquatics (CA) hosted the 2019 Lower Palmetto Championship Meet this past weekend on the campus of the University of South Carolina. The meet was open to all youth swimmers who did not qualify for the multi-state sectional meets for their individual events (sectional qualifying times are faster than state championship qualifying times).

The sectional qualifiers have been in action in recent weeks in Cary, NC and Atlanta, GA. Swimmers ages 11 and older swam morning preliminary races to qualify for evening finals whereas younger swimmers used the timed finals format (one race in the afternoon).

CAC’s Joe Guthinger (200 IM, 100 Free, 100 Back) and Chandra Robideaux (50 Fly, 50 Free) won multiple events while Ella Habib (200 Fly), Ryan Boudreau (100 Free), and Jack Guthinger (200 IM) also posted first-place finishes.

CAC plans to compete in long-course meets all across the Carolinas this summer while working to qualify swimmers for their events in the South Carolina Long Course Championship meet to be held in late July back in Columbia.
