CAC swimmers team up to capture six state titles

South Carolina Swimming welcomed almost 800 swimmers from 25 Swim Clubs to its annual Long Course State Championship meet this weekend at the Carolina Natatorium on the campus of the University of South Carolina.

Coastal Aquatic Club (CAC) had 20 swimmers entered in the meet. Swimmers age 10-and-under used the timed-finals format during the afternoon session. Older swimmers (ages 11 and up) had a preliminary qualifying session in the morning and a Finals session in the evening including the top 10 qualifiers from the morning. Older swimmers also had consolation finals for places 11-20 or 11-30 depending on the number of swimmers entered in the event.

Four CAC swimmers combined to win 6 state championships. Future Gamecock swimmer Taylor Steele bested her state record time in the 100 Breaststroke on her way to the championship.
