campbellAmber Campbell qualified today at the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon for her third straight Olympic Games. She will represent America in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil next month.

The Grand Strand resident broke the Trials record for distance in Women’s Hammer Throw with a distance of 74.03 meters on her final throw of the day, beating her previous Trials record for her toss in 2012. She also set a mark for personal best, which had been 73.61 meters.

Campbell threw for Coach Alan Connie while attending Coastal Carolina University, and was the 16-time Big South Conference Champion, “What an amazing performance,” Connie said minutes after the awards ceremony.
