CCU women’s soccer hires former Georgia All-American

ccuwsoc-pattersonCoastal Carolina University women’s soccer head coach Paul Hogan added Carrie Patterson, a former All-American at the University of Georgia, to his coaching staff on Wednesday.

“I recruited Carrie years ago to Colorado, but she chose to play at Georgia where she still holds the career record for goals and points.,” said Hogan. “Not only does Carrie have an excellent playing background, but she has also been around great coaches from her youth career through college.”

Patterson comes to Coastal from the University of Missouri where she spent the last two years as the director of women’s soccer operations. In her role with the Tigers, Patterson helped with all facets of the day-to-day aspects of the program, including spearheading the team’s travel and gameday operations.

“I am incredibly grateful to Paul Hogan, Matt Hogue, Cari Rosiek and the rest of the Coastal Carolina staff for this great opportunity,” said Patterson. “Coastal women’s soccer is on the rise, and I could not be more excited to join this program. Coach Hogan has built a great foundation with the student-athletes he has brought to Conway, and I am honored to be part of this team. I am excited for the challenge and ready to compete for a Big South Championship.”

In addition to her work with the Tigers, Patterson also coaches at Sporting Columbia, S.C., where she is the competitive coach for the U12 Academy team, an assistant coach with the U18 Girls squad and a provider of private lessons.

Patterson was an All-American player at Georgia from 2006-2009. She was a four-time All-Southeastern Conference first team selection and earned All-America second team honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Soccer Buzz in 2007. In 2006, Patterson took home SEC Freshman of the Year honors and was a Soccer Buzz Freshman All-American. She still stands as the Bulldogs’ all-time leader in points, goals and multiple goal games and ranks second in career assists.

Following her collegiate playing days, Patterson was drafted by the Philadelphia Independence of Women’s Professional Soccer in 2010. She then signed with Vancouver Whitecaps FC of the W-League in 2011, where she helped the squad advance to the Final Four.

Prior to Mizzou, Patterson spent time as the Social Media Manager at Atlanta Cycling. With the organization, she created educational and awareness campaigns designed to drive revenue and build brand presence.

She also spent one year coaching at Atlanta’s Tophat Soccer Club, where Patterson played club soccer growing up. With Tophat, she was the Academy program’s game coach, conducted training sessions and gave private lessons.

A native of Atlanta, Ga., Patterson earned a bachelor’s in marketing with a minor in Spanish from Georgia’s Terry College of Business in 2010. She completed her master’s degree in educational, school and counseling psychology from Missouri in 2014.
