Beach Run: CF’s Watkins, Socastee’s Solomon shine

Waccamaw HS (Pawleys Island) won the Boys Championship with 68.5 points while Nansemond River HS (Sulfolk, VA) claimed the Girls Team Title with 98 points at the 2018 Beach Run Track & Field Invitational held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach.

Girls High Point Scorer for Field Events went to Kayla Watkins of Carolina Forest, who won the long jump (17′ 10.75″) and tied for 3rd in the high jump (5′ 2″).

Girls High Point Scorer for Track Events went to Tierra Frasier of Rock Hill who had runner-up finishes in both the 100m (12.26) and 200m (25.39), while placing 3rd in the 400m (59.66).

Boys High Point Scorer for Field Events was won by Nick Hampton of Westside who won the triple jump (41′ 9″) and placed 5th in the high jump (5′ 10″)

Boys High Point Scorer for Track Events was won by Jackson Junkins of Waccamaw who claimed victory in the 200m (21.90) and the 400m (49.24).

Socastee’s Kenney Solomon fared well in both track and field events, winning the 100 meters and finishing third in the long jump.

Other outstanding performances included:
Sasha Neglia (Dobyns-Bennett) winning the girls 1600m (5:03.43) and 3200m (10:45.54) runs in meet record times.

Kori Carter (Nansemond River) winning gold medals in the 100mHH (14.18) and 200m (24.63).

Jaden Slocum (Alpharetta) wining the boys long jump in a meet record 23′ 1.25″.

Brittany Bishop (Anderson County) wining the girls pole vault with a best of 12′ 3″.
