CCU men’s basketball releases 2011-12 schedule

Contests with Southeastern Conference member Louisiana State, the reigning Southern Conference champion College of Charleston and an ESPN BracketBuster game highlight a 16-game, Coastal Carolina home men’s basketball schedule for the 2011-12 season in Kimbel Arena.

Other games of note are road games at Clemson (Nov. 22), at The Citadel (Dec. 6) and at East Carolina (Dec. 19).

 

“We are really excited about this year’s schedule,” said fifth year head coach Cliff Ellis. “We have some quality opponents that we are eager to play. When you look at the series with LSU, Clemson, East Carolina, The Citadel and The College of Charleston, we will really be tested but are looking forward to the challenge.”

Coastal Carolina, who has won 28 games each of the last two years while winning a pair of Big South regular-season titles, will open the season in Kimbel Arena, hosting Covenant and Methodist on back-to-back days (Nov. 11-12).

On Nov. 15, the LSU Tigers will come to Kimbel Arena and the Chants will host the College of Charleston on Dec. 22.

Between those marquee matchups (with LSU and CofC), Coastal will host VMI (Dec. 1) and Liberty (Dec. 3) to open Big South action.

The Chants’ first Big South home date in 2012 will be Jan. 12, welcoming Gardner-Webb. Other home conference games include Presbyterian (Jan. 14), Radford (Jan. 21), Charleston Southern (Feb. 4), Campbell (Feb. 7), High Point (Feb. 9) and UNC Asheville (Feb. 14).

The Big South Tournament will be played from Feb. 27-March 3.

Renewals for the 2011-12 season have been mailed. The deadline for past season ticket holders to renew their current seats has been set for Oct. 10. Currently, there is a waiting list for those wishing to purchase men’s basketball season tickets. To join the waiting list please follow this link: GoCCUSports.com/thelist.  After Oct. 10, if seats are not renewed, those on the waiting list will be contacted, with priority given to the Chanticleer Athletic Foundation members.
