Dogs, cornhole, fireworks mark Pelicans’ promotions

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans have only 10 home games remaining on the 2018 schedule, and the Grand Strand’s minor league baseball team is planning to go out with a bang.

The Pelicans return home Friday for a three-game series with the Wilmington Blue Rocks. The set begins with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch for Bark at the Park Night, when dogs receive free admission to the game with a Budweiser Thirst Inning Deck ticket. All dogs and owners can participate in a pregame parade.

Friday is also Thirsty Friday with $1 Bud and Bud Light drafts, $2 16 oz. cans and half-off Duplin Wine from 6-8 p.m., and Beers, Brats and Baseball, featuring $2 drafts from 6-8 p.m. and buy-one, get-one free sausages. On a First Reponders Friday, first responders can also recieve half-off tickets courtesy of 707 Shooting Range, WMBF News and Goldfinch, Winslow Attorneys and Counselors at Law.

Saturday is Bobblehead Giveaway featuring former Pelicans Gleyber Torres, now with the New York Yankees, and Ian Happ, currently with the parent club Chicago Cubs. The game will be followed by a free fireworks show.

Sunday is Rollback Night with tickets as low as $5 and discounted food, beverages and merchandise. The throwback menu includes $2 hot dogs and sodas, $2.50 popcorn, $3 pretzels, and $4 domestic draft beers until 8 p.m. It’s also Ultimate Kids Sunday with pre-game toss on the field and children can run the bases after the game.

On Friday, Aug. 17, the Pelicans are partnering with Better Brands and Samuel Adams to host Augtoberfest. The event will take place in conjunction with the Pelicans’ 7:05 p.m. game against the Buies Creek Astros. For just $30, fans receive a ticket to the ballgame, exclusive access to the beer tasting session from 6-8 p.m. and a souvenir tasting mug. The beer tasting event features a variety of 24 beers and ciders including Stone Fear Movie Lion, Funky Buddha Key Lime Tart, Southern Tier Pumking and DuClaw Sweet Baby Java.

To help celebrate Augtoberfest, the Pelicans are also hosting a pregame on-field Cornhole Tournament courtesy Coastal Tailgating. The grand prize for the 32-team tournament is a set of Pelicans cornhole boards and bags from Coastal Tailgating. There is no fee to play in the tournament; however, access is limited to those fans who purchase the Augtoberfest ticket package. Fans can sign up for the tournament online when they purchase the ticket package.
