Jenerette, Livingston lead Lady Chiefs to track victory

The North Myrtle Beach girls track and field team defeated West Brunswick 105-37 in Tuesday’s season-opening dual meet while the boys team suffered an 89-57 loss to the Trojans.

Jaquella Livingston and Drake Jenerette lead the way for the Lady Chiefs with three individual first-place finishes.  Livingston won the High Jump (5-foot-0), 200 meters (28.2 seconds) and 400m (1:03), while Jenerette won the 800m (2:49), 1600m (6:08) and 3200m (13:28).

NMB’s Marisa Maher captured two first-place finishes in the 300m Hurdles (51.6) and pole vault with a jump of 8-3. Other individual winners were Halice Schoonover 100m (13.3), Venyka Dewitt long jump (15’ 1.25” personal best), Audrey Grey shot (27-2), Jasymene Vereen discus (85-1 personal best) and Alexis Leonhardt triple jump (31-5).

The Lady Chiefs also won three relays races, the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×800.  One additional athlete, Tori Prough, recorded a personal-best distance in the high jump with a leap of 5-0, finishing second on attempts behind teammate Jaquella Livingston.

For the NMB boys, Jeffery Linta cleared 14 feet on his only attempt in the pole vault, Rodrick Hemingway won the 200m in a time of 23.4 and Delonzo Williams finished second in the 100m in a respectable 11.5 seconds.

The next meet for the Chiefs will be a home against West Brunswick Monday at 4:30 p.m.
